What do you do here at Wright Lab?

I work in the Relativistic Heavy Ion group as a graduate student on the ALICE experiment. My work focuses on using machine learning for jet reconstruction.

What is the most unique and/or exciting experience you’ve had here at Wright Lab?

Just before lockdown, a few members of my group and I participated in an event with local middle schoolers to make cloud chambers from household items. It needs to be relatively dark in order to test these, and they can be pretty difficult to get working, so we spent a number of days in a completely dark office squinting at our homemade cloud chambers! The event ended up being really fun and the cloud chambers worked great - one fun pre-lockdown Wright Lab memory!

What is something that people might not know about you that you’d like to share with the community?

I am a certified beekeeper in the state of Maine. In college, I took care of the bees that the college owned and made delicious treats from their honey! I also photographed them up close without gloves on. Surprisingly - I’ve never been stung!

Where do you like to work remotely?

I usually work in a corner on an old card table with a water bottle and coffee mug close by at all times! I also enjoy working outside in the sun and try to do that as much as possible!
