What do you do here at Wright Lab?

I am part of the Yale ATLAS Group with Prof. Paul Tipton.  At WL we work on building and testing staves, an integral part of ATLAS’s new inner tracker for the High Luminosity LHC upgrade.  I also work on a couple projects that focus on machine learning applications for tau reconstruction, and the study of the Higgs CP structure.

What is the most unique and/or exciting experience you’ve had here at Wright Lab?

A couple months ago I came into WL on a Saturday, to pick up a notebook I had forgotten.  As I walked towards the empty building, I saw a weird looking sign pasted on the main entrance.  After a moment’s hesitation I decided to go in, only to find most of the walls covered in the same printed sign.  I didn’t know what the sign meant, but I had a bad feeling about it and started spiraling, thinking of all the terrible things the signs could mean.  I was halfway up the stairs when I turned around and sprinted out of the building, convinced that the sign meant that there had been a radiation leakage.  I hurried home wishing I hadn’t gone in and, after catching my breath, checked my phone for any radiation alerts I might have missed.

That day I learned that the signs were targets for a 3D scan of the building needed for planning Wright Lab’s expansion, and that I should really get better at checking my email

What are you looking forward to in the coming year at Wright Lab?

I am excited to ramp up my research! I have spent quite a bit of time in the last couple years working on my ATLAS Qualification task, but now that I’ve finished that work I can focus on my analysis.

What is something that people might not know about you that you’d like to share with the community?
I really enjoy doing pottery.  I did it for a semester in collage and last year I found a ceramics studio near Yale; I love going there to unwind on the weekends! Also, I really looove Christmas!!! :D
