What do you do here at Wright Lab?

I am a Post-Baccalaureate researcher on HAYSTAC. I graduated from Yale in May and will be applying to graduate schools in the fall. I wanted to take a gap year to explore a field that was new to me, and I have certainly learned a lot in the short time I’ve been here! I am currently implementing a blind analysis for HAYSTAC and working as a TF for PHYS 382L.

What is the most unique and/or exciting experience you’ve had here at Wright Lab?

I am very fortunate to have a window right by my desk. I often watch the Northern Mockingbirds foraging in the tall grass that grows on the side of the building. One day on my way back from lunch, I discovered that one of these mockingbirds had a nest and a baby right beneath our office windows! I love Wright Lab’s integration with nature.

What are you looking forward to in the coming year at Wright Lab?

I have loved working on HAYSTAC and feel most fulfilled when I am learning new things and making meaningful contributions. The more I learn, the more helpful I can be to my coworkers and the collaboration. I am very excited to see what the year brings for HAYSTAC’s Phase III data and future data acquisition runs. I am also excited to continue my work as a TF – it is strange and fun to help teach a class that I took myself as an undergraduate.

What is something that people might not know about you that you’d like to share with the community?

I am very passionate about biology and wildlife. I love learning about the plants and animals around me and how they relate to one another. One of my favorite ways to feel connected with nature is by making terrariums with plants I find in my yard and in the woods. In my free time I like playing video games, reading, sculpting and pottery.
