Graduate Student in Physics

What do you do here at Wright Lab?  I work with Professor Karsten Heeger on Project 8, an experiment that aims to measure the neutrino mass using a precise tritium beta-decay spectrum. I am currently performing a Bayesian analysis of Project 8’s most recent data. I’m also developing models of future potential data to inform our design choices.

What is the most unique and/or exciting experience you’ve had here at Wright Lab? My lab group’s first in-person meeting after a year of working virtually.

What are you looking forward to in the coming year at Wright Lab? Scaling up lab tests for the next phase of Project 8, and getting involved with those tests. I am also excited to launch the “Kimball Smith Series,” a new Yale event series on science, ethics and international affairs—sponsored by the Physics Department, with direct support from Wright Lab. Stay tuned for more information!

What is something that people might not know about you that you’d like to share with the community?  I’m on the board of International Student/Young Pugwash (ISYP), a network of early-career people working to promote nuclear disarmament, non-proliferation, and responsible use of science/technology—by engaging in dialogue across national and political divides. We are associated with the Pugwash Conferences on Science and World Affairs.
