Biographical Sketch:

David Nguyen is a PhD student working with Laura Newburgh. His work focuses on software development and data analysis of current generation cosmology experiments. He is interested in various topics in cosmology, including the cosmic microwave background, inflation, dark matter, and dark energy. His hobbies include photography, both nature photography and astrophotography (in his backyard with an amateur telescope and CMOS camera).

Research: 

David’s research focuses on early universe cosmology. He is developing the data acquisition, data processing, and analysis pipelines for the Simons Observatory (SO). His work also includes developing and maintaining the alarm system for SO, ensuring proper observations. One of his primary analysis projects involves the detector characterization and half-wave plate characterization to produce detector responsivity calibration. He also briefly worked on CHIME in 2022.

WL involvement: The Newburgh group is part of the team commissioning SO. Newburgh leads the data acquisition and control group, mainly building software to control and acquire data.
