Parking, Access, and Deliveries at Wright Lab
Starting June 1, 2024, construction activities for the Wright Lab Addition (WLA) and Phase I of the Physical Sciences and Engineering Building (PSEB) project have commenced around Wright Lab (WL). The construction will impact the parking lots around WL and access to the lab.
- The front entrance to Wright Lab is closed, as of December 22, 2025. All access to the building will shift to the entrance at Wright Lab West (WLW), which will continue to provide access to all areas within the Wright Lab complex. This temporary arrangement will remain in place until the new facility is ready for occupancy in August 2026.
- Deliveries to the high bay will continue with special coordination and advance notice through Jeff Ashenfelter and Frank Lopez (see contact information, below) and the WLA/PSEB construction project team.
- Parking Lots 16 and 22 will be impacted to facilitate construction activities for this phase of work.
Temporary Relocation of Gibbs Professional Shop
- Starting in May 2024, there will be construction in the WL high bay area for the WLA and AIDC construction projects. The Gibbs Professional Shop will relocate temporarily to Sterling Chemistry Laboratory (SCL) 27 and SCL 28. SCL 26A will be used for stock storage. Select machines were moved from the Gibbs Shop at WL into the SCL space in May/June 2024. Some disruption to service while transitioning to the SCL space is expected but the project team and the Gibbs Shop are working to keep this to an absolute minimum.
- There will be some impact to shop capabilities during this time period given the limited mills and lathes that will be available to the machine shop. Additionally, the shear and plastics shop will be offline from June 2024 until August 2025. If you have questions about particular capabilities, or have a project you would like to get in the queue prior to this relocation, please contact Jack DiSciacca.
- The Advanced Prototyping Center (APC), research shop, and teaching shop capabilities continue to be accessible and functional during this time. Please contact Craig Miller for information and access to these facilities.
