2024 Nobel Prize in Physics: "The rise of neural learning"

 

In this talk, I will give a pedagogical view of the discoveries made by Hopfield and Hinton and for which they were awarded the 2024 Nobel Prize in Physics. I will use this as a springboard to informally introduce recent advances in machine learning and discuss where intersections with physics could be of great impact both to advances in artificial intelligence and to research in physics.
