EHS Orientation for WL shops
The EHS shop orientation is offered each semester and is required to be taken once by anyone who would like to gain access and make use of the research and teaching shops at Wright Lab.

Tour of YQI superconducting qubit labs
Participants of the Summer Student Research Program at Wright Lab are invited to a tour of the superconducting quantum devices laboratories at YQI. Lunch will be provided.

Tour of Wright Lab
This tour is open to students in the Summer Student Research Program at Wright Lab and new members of the Wright Lab and Yale Physics communities. Meet at the front entrance for a ~1 hour overview tour of the lab facilities and research program.

Research computing office hours for Summer Student Research Program at WL
This session will provide an opportunity for students in the Summer Student Research Program at Wright Lab to get assistance from the YCRC Research Support team with programming and HPC related questions specific to their research projects.

Responsible conduct in research and the use of AI
This is a brief presentation with Q&A, intended for participants in the Summer Student Research Program at Wright Lab, about how about to responsibly conduct research and use Artificial Intelligence. Offered as part of the Summer Student Research Program at Wright Lab.
A pizza lunch will be served for attendees.

Walking tour of Yale
Students in the Summer Student Research Program at Wright Lab are invited to join a guided walking tour of Yale University. The tour will leave from the Yale Visitor Center at 149 Elm Street, New Haven, CT 06511 at 3:00 p.m. Please plan to come a few minutes early so the group does not leave without you. The tour lasts approximately 1 hour to 1 hour and 15 minutes, and will end in the Broadway District near the Yale Bookstore at 77 Broadway.

International Festival of Arts & Ideas: Making Memories: Neurons, Quantum Computing, and Art
Join YQI and the International Festival of Arts and Ideas for an unforgettable experience as we delve into the captivating world of Artist Serena Scapagnini, fascinated by the processes underlying memory. The event will commence with the U.S. Premiere of the documentary “Serena Scapagnini – The Space Beyond” (Lo Spazio Oltre), featuring an extended version that showcases her recent artistic residency at the Yale Quantum Institute. Following this screening, immerse yourself in an engaging discussion about art, memory, and quantum technology with Serena and her collaborators.

The Path of Memory, the Space Within: From Synapses to Quantum Physics
Join visual artist Serena Scapagnini and scientist Florian Carle for a walking tour of New Haven to discover Serena’s original artworks created during her residency at the Yale Quantum Institute. The stops include installations on the New Haven Green, at the Robert B Haas Family Arts Library, and at the Yale Quantum Institute. The artworks are site-specific, composed of copper plates encapsulated painted paper and copper wires, playing on different types of memory: from biological systems and synapses to quantum memory and information stored in qubits.

Evening at Leitner Family Observatory and Planetarium
Wright Lab summer program students are invited to an evening at LFOP including a planetarium show and observing with telescopes, pending weather. Open to all summer student researchers in astronomy, physics, and the Yale Quantum Institute.

Resumes and websites workshop
Learn how to recognize what makes a good résumé or CV, how to manage your online professional presence, and what tools you can use to help you make decisions about your grad school search. We’ll look at several faculty CVs, commonly-used professional profile websites, and library databases that can help you find information on departments, industries, companies, and more — whether you plan to go into academia, corporate, or nonprofit work.

Mid-summer pizza lunch with the Wright Lab community
All members of the Wright Lab community and participants and mentors of the Summer Student Research Program at Wright Lab are invited to a mid-summer pizza lunch.

Yale University Library viewing of historical scientific books
Open to participants of the Summer Student Research Program at Wright Lab. Split between the Beinecke and Medical Historical Library, Yale has access to early editions of many milestones of achievement in physics. In this enrichment session, you will have the opportunity to see works with topics ranging from early materials science, astronomy and cosmology, physics, and mathematics, a total of 15 items.
Event attendance capped at 22 due to the size of the classroom. Registration required. Participants of the program will be given priority on a first-come, first-served basis.
