PROSPECT results inspire neutrino detectors for diplomacy

A group of international leaders, including Wright Lab Director Karsten Heeger, have published a letter in Science called Neutrino physics for Korean diplomacy, in which the authors propose using neutrino detectors for verifying reactor shutdown or conversion.

Following the recent measurements and successful results from the PROSPECT antineutrino detector on the detection of neutrinos from a reactor with a novel surface-based detector, there has been renewed interest in the applied side of neutrino detection for safeguard and reactor monitoring purposes.

The authors were inspired by a presentation of the recent measurements and success of PROSPECT at the Applied Antineutrino Physics 2018 Workshop that was held on October 10-11, 2018 at Lawrence Livermore National Lab.
