A recent alumnus, Dr. Nathan Cooper, passed away on October 3, 2019 in South Bend, Indiana. He was just 35 years old.  Dr. Cooper earned his Ph.D. at Yale in 2015 with a thesis titled “Structure of A = 76 Nuclei and Fast-Timing Studies of the Rare-Earth Region” (advisor Volker Werner). His thesis was the last Yale Ph.D. thesis to come out of Yale’s tandem accelerator at the Wright Nuclear Structure Laboratory.
