Shelly Lesher, a professor of physics at University of Wisconsin-LaCrosse (UWL) who was in residence at Wright Lab from 2019-20 as a Yale Presidential Visiting Scholar, has created and hosts a popular podcast called “My Nuclear Life”.

The podcast explores how nuclear science has impacted and changed the world in both beneficial and destructive ways, by means of interviews with historians, policy makers, scientists, and other experts in fields such as nuclear sanctions, energy, history, environment, and medicine.

The first season of six episodes is available as of December 2020, and the second season will be released March 2, 2021, with new episodes posted biweekly on Tuesdays.

The first guest in the new season will be Richard Rhodes (Yale B.A. ‘59), the author of the Pulitzer Prize-winning book, The Making of the Atomic Bomb, and 26 other books covering a variety of scientific and historical topics.

The “My Nuclear Life” program is an outgrowth of the “Impact of the Atom” seminar Lesher created and taught while at Yale, its related film and lecture series, and the “Navigating Global Nuclear Issues” course she has taught at UWL.

Find out more about the series in this article, and listen to the podcast on the “My Nuclear Life” website.
