Alumni selected as Rising Stars in Experimental Particle Physics

two headshots
October 27, 2021

Wright Lab alumni Elena Gramellini, Ph.D. ‘18, and Christian Weber, Ph.D. ‘21 were each selected as a Rising Star in Experimental Particle Physics at the University of Chicago.

Rising stars are chosen for their track record of research accomplishments and demonstrated contributions to enhancing diversity, equity, and inclusion in STEM; and are invited to present their research at the U. Chicago Rising Stars Symposia.

The U. Chicago Rising Stars Symposia are a platform for exceptional early-career scientists in the broad fields of soft and biological materials, quantum science and technology, and experimental particle physics to present their work.

Gramellini and Weber presented the following talks at the Rising Stars in Experimental Particle Physics Symposium, held on September 22-23, 2021.

Gramellini, who is currently a postdoctoral associate at Fermilab,  presented  “Critical Measurements and Technological Advancements on the path to DUNE”.

Weber, who is currently a research assistant in physics at Brookhaven National Laboratory, presented “Probing dark sectors with the Higgs Boson”.

The talk slides and recordings can be found on the symposium’s Indico page.
