Event description:

Members of the Yale research community in instrumentation have been invited to a short ideation workshop to discuss ideas and solicit community input on a proposed Advanced Instrumentation Development Center in the Physical Science and Engineering Building (PSEB). The workshop will be held on Friday May 22 from 2-3.30pm on Zoom.

In February, the PSEB instrumentation initiative task force was charged to develop the vision for an instrumentation and technology development center in support of the instrumentation initiative described in the University Science Strategy Committee report. Building on the community input from the 2018 and 2020 Days of Instrumentation, the task force has outlined key elements for advanced instrumentation development at Yale. By extending the facilities currently housed at Wright Lab, we have identified a number of key areas of growth to best serve the scientific community. With this workshop, we would like to provide a brief update on the ongoing work of this task force. In addition, we would like to solicit further input on the opportunities that instrumentation development may provide for research and education at Yale.
We invite 2-min contributions (2 slides max) from PIs and lab leaders illustrating how advanced instrumentation development can enable new research programs and realize education opportunities, especially those along the science priorities. Please email us your ideas by Wednesday May 20, 2020, 5pm using the example and slide template posted on the event website.
