Havener appointed to the US LHC Users Association Executive Committee

Wright Lab assistant professor Laura Havener has been appointed to the US LHC Users Association (US LUA) Executive Committee for the 2026-27 term.    

The Executive Committee is comprised of twelve members serving two-year terms, with six people elected each year. Wright Lab postdoctoral associate Elise Le Boulicaut Ennis is also on the committee, having been appointed last year for the 2025-26 term. 

According to its website, the US LUA “is composed of scientists and engineers who carry out research and development using the Large Hadron Collider experiments and accelerator systems” and its purpose is “to provide a forum for discussions of the US participation in the LHC research program, with a focus on how best to enhance scientific participation in the discoveries expected from this research.”   

Furthermore, the US LUA “aims to help the US LHC community work effectively with their colleagues at CERN while in the US, and to adapt to work at CERN and to living in the environs of the CERN laboratory. US LUA also provides communication channels between scientists working on LHC experiments, the US agencies supporting this research and the US Congress.”  

Havener said, “I’m excited to serve on the US LUA Executive Committee. The LHC community has shaped my entire career, and I look forward to helping represent the ALICE collaboration and the broader heavy-ion community while contributing to USLUA’s advocacy and outreach efforts.”
