What do you do here at Wright Lab?

Most of my time has been spent working on the COSINE-100 experiment, which is a dark matter search experiment. I’ve also picked up some side projects using neutrons to help us better characterize the detectors we use in COSINE-100.

What is the most unique and/or exciting experience you’ve had here at Wright Lab?

One of the best experiences I’ve had here at the lab is taking the machine shop class with Dave Johnson. Cutting through chunks of metal is a ton of fun and the class gave me a general insight into how everyday objects are made. Plus, there’s an immediate gratification, which can sometimes be rare in basic research.

What is something that people might not know about you that you’d like to share with the community?

I’ve played the trumpet for nearly 15 years. I haven’t kept up with it in grad school as much as I would’ve liked, but it’s led to many unique experiences in my life. I’ve performed at Carnegie Hall, the temple of Apollo, with Rascal Flatts, and in a migrant refugee camp. I even had the honor of being one of the drum majors of my college marching band.

Where do you like to work remotely?

I try to work anywhere I can, except at home. This has led to me coming into my office as much as possible.
